Bitstream HD Audio on XBMC
Bitstreaming HD audio on XBMC has been difficult to do, requiring modifications and use of external players. As you may know already, I am a huge fan of XBMC. The layout is slick and and can be customized to your liking. Playback of almost all media files is headache-free. The major drawback of XBMC, at least for me, is that it doesn’t bitstream HD audio. Even in the new Eden release, support for HD audio hasn’t been added. Fortunately, some awesome coders have been able to release and HD audio version of Eden, and I must say, it works very well!
There is no need to tamper with any code, XML files, or external files. Support for DTS-HD Master Audio is flawless, while Dolby True-HD is also supported (there were some issues with TrueHD files that were ripped with MakeMKV, but it’s minimal). You can download it here.
*** You do need to have a system that can bitstream HD audio. This includes the Graphics on the HTPC as well as the AV receiver.
